SOLVE THIS RIDDLE: WHAT IS MODERN BUT NEVER SICK, & ALWAYS ROUND BUT NEVER INFINITE? (2020)

Animation: After Effects, Photoshop, Cinema4D — ACT I music by Ben Sound | ACT II: music by JR Tundra and Sir Cubworth | ACT III music by Sir Cubworth

'SOLVE THIS RIDDLE' is a three chapter vignette story inspired by sensational AI-generated tweets from @MagicrealismBot, developed by Chris and Ali Rodley. Earlier in my research I read through MagicRealismBot's feed and stitched together a narrative of sorts, referencing magic worlds accessed through a forbidden bite of pumpkin; fortune tellers who forewarn of your death by golem-eating; and an ostrich who lays teapot-hatching eggs containing all the terrible and sublime forces of the cosmos.

Animation: After Effects and Photoshop — ACT I music: “Treefingers” by Radiohead; ACT II music: James Horner; ACT III sounds: found sounds

Made in response to a simple prompt - build three worlds.

Processing Animation (2017)

Thanks entirely to the Hollander Family Foundation Award grant, I was able to spend one week this summer at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, CO,  where I finally took my first steps in creative coding. During my week at Anderson Ranch studying Processing & Arduino with Joshua Davis, I created a humble sensor-driven animation with Processing. This animation randomly generates color-changing ellipses, the paths of which respond in real-time to the x-y coordinates of my mouse. The animation is programmed to reset itself with each mouse click.

This little animation makes use of my favorite color palette (red, black, white) and is a slight homage to the great Yayoi Kusama's polka-dots.
